Ines Weizman

Ines Weizman, Diploma in Architecture (Bauhaus University Weimar), MPhil (Cantab.), PhD (Architectural Association), is an architect and theorist based in London. She is director of the MA Cities Design and Urban Cultures at the Department of Architecture and Spatial Design, London Metropolitan University. She also teaches architectural history and theory at the Architectural Association London and at Syracuse University Architecture Program London.
Previously she was Diploma Tutor at the Architectural Association for Dip 12 (Unit Master Martine de Maeseneer). In 2005 she was guest professor at the Berlage Institute of Architecture in Rotterdam and taught politics at Goldsmiths College London University. She has been visiting critic in numerous architecture studios in the UK and internationally.In her doctoral research she studied the effects of the collapse of the Iron Curtain on the urbanism of former socialist countries. She published articles on the political and ideological spectacles enacted by Soviet-era architecture. Currently she is working on a book about the urbanism of the ideological spectacle in what was East Germany – before, during and after the Cold War. It is also an attempt in understanding figures and practices of dissidence in architecture.
